Resident-Led Transit-Oriented Pilot Village

Jennifer and Ron served as the leadership team that guided the development of Market Creek Plaza, a resident-planned, designed, built, managed and owned social enterprise in the Diamond Neighborhoods of southeastern San Diego. Anchored by the first grocery store in the community in 30 years, the commercial and cultural center was built using resident teams working on land planning, art and design, construction, business and leasing, community employment, resources, and ownership. Following the development of the Plaza, resident teams planned The Village at Market Creek, transit-oriented pilot village reclaiming 60 acres of blight.

Stakeholder strategies blended vision organizing, working teams, the development of resident-centered resource networks, and a first-of-its-kind Community Development IPO.
