“Courageous Philanthropy” Book Launch

On October 27, 2018, residents and partners who participated on resident-led teams working to revitalize southeastern San Diego came together at a sharing event to celebrate the newly-released book, “Courageous Philanthropy: Going Public in a Closely Held World.“ This book — about the power and importance of resident voice and investment in community change — explores the lessons of a two-decade-long experience to address power dynamics between funders and the communities they seek to serve. It is told through the stories of people who participated, as well as national leaders working in community development and philanthropy. Here’s an overview of what participants had to say:
