Welcome to our new website and our Speaking of Change blog. It is our hope that it reflects our belief in the hope and possibility of change and the potential of people to inspire and create a more just and equitable world.

Over the past forty years, we have had the privilege of learning from and being changed by our work and relationships with many incredible people who serve in non-profits and their neighborhoods with passion, commitment and humility.

They have taught us many lessons about creating communities of change we can live, work and believe in.

Four of these lessons have become simple but powerful guides in all our work:

  • Begin and stay in a listening and learning place to be enriched, gain understanding, and touch our common humanity.
  • Be inclusive. Lift up and honor all voices and the wisdom and gifts in our differences.
  • Lead with questions that in answering help us discover our ability to solve problems and discover breakthroughs.
  • Most importantly, care most deeply for people and principles which are at the core of any true community and enduring change.

We want this blog to be its own community of change — a place to share the work, the stories, the ideas, and the questions that we learn from and are changed by.

We will be posting entries from our work on the ground and our writing, from community change leaders across the country, and links to videos and articles that give vision and voice to challenge and inspire us to take action.

“And that is how change happens,” writes Libya Bray. “One gesture. One person. One moment at a time.”

We invite you to join us.
